Virtual Desktop

Welcome to the Virtual Desktop feedback portal. The VR community has been very helpful along the development process with ideas and suggestions that helped make it one of the most popular VR application available today. I will continue to improve and add features to Virtual Desktop but I need your help. Tell me what features you'd like to see in future updates!

Keyboard or controller toggle when pressed allows the headset to controls the mouse cursor movement which is located in the center of view. Another keyboard or controller toggle activates a small magnification screen with adjustable...

SteamVR keyboard integration for Vive controllers

For those familiar with SteamVR, you noticed that you can type on a virtual keyboard using the tackpad of your controllers. A similar solution, or just the plain SteamVR solution would be cool to have.

Configurable cylinder projection for games with large FOV

Games with large FOV get very "squished" towards the screen edges, i. e. a circle near the edge of the FOV will be drawn as a wide ellipse. Projecting such a distorted image onto a 3D cylinder gets rid of the distortion and should feel very...

Usable Virtual Desktop Window in Stereo Mode

Right now if you go into SxS mode or SxS anamorphic mode it becomes impossible to use the Virtual desktop window (for instance to exit SxS mode). It would be great if the Virtual Desktop Window would automatically clone itself into a left/right...

Radius parameter for 3D 180/360 videos (like Whirligig)

I already stated this before, but to remind you, this setting is crucial for avoiding giant sized videos.

Low blue light, ala F.lux. For using at night and being easier on the eyes.

A low blue light mode to make it easier on the eyes. Similar to F.lux. Running F.lux on your desktop doesn't affect VD. It would be nice for people using it at night. It's less disruptive to sleep cycles. I myself have gotten pretty used to...

PIP pass thru cam that snaps to a corner of wherever you're looking.

The PIP pass thru camera would ideally have a low resolution to scaled with the size of the image as well as a low refresh rate to save battery and processing power. It should move with the viewer docked to one of the corners of the screen as to...

Vive remote as air mouse

I see a suggestion to use Vive Remote as a laser pointer and ggodin responded that it wasn't a good experience. Has airmouse functionality been considered? This would be moving the Vive Remote and the cursor and would only move while a defined...

Reverb added to PC sounds that mimic current environment's sound characteristics

You could have virtual speakers on the walls (or not) but at least have some reverb plugins that mimic the current environment. It sounds strange to have headphone audio when watching a movie in a large virtual theatre. It should sound expansive.

Microphone picks up your voice and echoes it according to current environment

** This is a BIG feature request of mine that I have wanted to suggest to anyone making a game for VR, but it seems like I'm the only one who has thought of it. Basically, if you are in a cave and you speak with your voice, then your voice should...

Improve filtering and text readability for high res desktops by using mip mapping

Or a pixel shader to super-sample multiple texels of the desktop texture while doing distortion on your own. I know mip mapping is supported but it's rift only. But I really want "best in class" sampling to improve readability. As soon as...

Allow the screen to be positioned independently of the environment.

Right now, if your screen is in "Floating" mode the entire environment is tied to the orientation of the screen. Meaning if you place a screen above you (I.E. you are laying down in a bed), the entire environment will end up tilted. This can be...

Have scaled screen movement based on head movement

I have an idea I'd love to see implemented that I think would solve a couple different connected problems. Problem #1: Resolution of CV1 is so close to being no big deal for working full time in Virtual Desktop. You can do it, but it's right on...
